Dr. Kester is an American Board of Toxicology -certified toxicologist with over 20 years of experience in toxicology, human health and ecological risk assessment, health impact assessment, and risk communication. She has extensive experience with toxicological and risk assessment issues at chlorinated solvent, pesticide, steel, wood treatment, petroleum, mining, and other hazardous waste sites under a variety of regulatory jurisdictions in the United States and other countries. A co-author and trainer of American Society for Testing and Materials’ (ASTM) risk-based corrective action (RBCA) standards, she has also published research and symposium papers and book chapters on aspects of toxicology and risk assessment. Dr. Kester developed the exposure assessment portion of the Voluntary Children’s Chemical Evaluation Program (VCCEP) Tier 1 submission for ethylbenzene, and has been identified as an expert in exposure assessment by the International Society of Exposure Science. She developed and taught graduate courses in toxicology at the Rochester Institute of Technology and University of Rochester School of Medicine. Dr. Kester has a special interest in communication of complex technical material to diverse audiences, and has often been invited to present seminars on issues in toxicology and risk assessment in both the U.S. and abroad. 

Dr. Kester earned a B.S. with distinction in biology and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in toxicology.
